Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dengzhanxixin is a botanical drug derived from the herb *Erigeron breviscapus* (Vant.) Hand.-Mazz., which is widely utilized in Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disorders. The Dengzhanxixin capsule formulation is currently being evaluated in the FUTURE trial, a multi-center, randomized, double-blinded study sponsored by the China National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, to assess its antiplatelet efficacy and safety in individuals at high risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). The therapeutic effects of Dengzhanxixin are primarily attributed to its flavonoid content, specifically scutellarin, which exhibits anti-thrombotic, anti-inflammatory, and vasodilatory properties. It is thought to work by inhibiting platelet aggregation and improving microcirculation, potentially through the antagonism of platelet-activating factor (PAF) receptors and modulation of inflammatory pathways.
