Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DenOsteoRel is a biosimilar of denosumab developed and marketed by Reliance Life Sciences. It is a human IgG2 monoclonal antibody produced in genetically engineered Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells. DenOsteoRel targets the receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand (RANKL), a protein essential for the formation, function, and survival of osteoclasts. By binding to RANKL, the drug prevents it from activating its receptor, RANK, on the surface of osteoclasts and their precursors. This inhibition leads to a reduction in osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, thereby increasing bone mineral density and reducing the risk of fractures. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at high risk of fracture, as well as other bone resorption disorders.
