Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Denosumab + teriparatide is a combination therapy used for treating osteoporosis, particularly in postmenopausal women with high fracture risk. This combination leverages complementary mechanisms of action: teriparatide stimulates new bone formation as an anabolic agent, while denosumab reduces bone resorption as an antiresorptive agent. Clinical studies have demonstrated that this combination increases bone mineral density (BMD) more significantly than either agent alone, particularly at the lumbar spine and hip. The combination therapy shows promise for patients at high risk of fracture who may benefit from a more aggressive treatment approach.
