Overview

Denoza (denosumab) is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody to Prolia, developed by Apotex. It functions as a RANKL (Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor Kappa-B Ligand) inhibitor. By binding to RANKL, Denoza prevents the activation of the RANK receptor on the surface of osteoclasts and their precursors, which inhibits osteoclast formation, function, and survival. This leads to a reduction in bone resorption and an increase in bone mineral density. Denoza was approved by Health Canada in April 2026 for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at high risk for fracture, mirroring the indications of its reference biologic.
