Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DenteShield is an FDA-approved line of antimicrobial dental sealants and primers developed by SelenBio Dental and distributed by Elevate Oral Care. The product line incorporates a proprietary selenium-based technology known as SELDOX (Diselenium-(2-acetoAcetoxyethyl methacrylate)). Unlike traditional antimicrobial agents that leach out over time, the selenium in DenteShield is covalently bonded to the dental polymer, creating a permanent antimicrobial surface. It functions through a catalytic mechanism that produces superoxide radicals to kill bacteria on contact, effectively inhibiting the formation of bacterial biofilms. DenteShield is indicated for the prevention of dental caries, white spot lesions, and gingival inflammation by reducing plaque accumulation and demineralization on treated tooth surfaces.
