Overview
**DEP docetaxel** is a patented dendrimer nanoparticle formulation of the taxane chemotherapy agent docetaxel, developed by Starpharma. Unlike conventional docetaxel (e.g., Taxotere), it is water-soluble and free of detergents like polysorbate 80, eliminating the need for premedication with steroids or antihistamines and reducing risks of severe hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis. It stabilizes microtubules by binding to tubulin, inhibiting depolymerization to block cancer cell division, with preclinical and clinical data showing improved tolerability, including lower rates of myelosuppression, edema, alopecia, and allergic reactions. Patent protection extends to 2032 plus potential extensions.
