Overview

DEPDC1-9-294 is a synthetic 9-mer peptide vaccine derived from the DEP domain-containing protein 1 (DEPDC1), specifically representing the amino acid sequence from positions 294 to 302. DEPDC1 is a cancer-testis antigen that is highly overexpressed in bladder cancer cells but has limited expression in normal tissues, making it an ideal target for immunotherapy. This peptide is designed to be HLA-A*2402-restricted, meaning it binds to the HLA-A*2402 molecule on the surface of antigen-presenting cells to stimulate a specific immune response. The mechanism involves the induction of DEPDC1-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) and the production of interferon-gamma (IFN-g), which target and destroy tumor cells expressing the DEPDC1 protein. It has been investigated in clinical trials for patients with advanced bladder cancer and for preventing recurrence after surgery.
