It is classified as an allergoid, a chemically modified allergen extract derived from the house dust mite *Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus*. The extract undergoes a proprietary European-patented process involving depigmentation (to remove non-allergenic components) and polymerization (using glutaraldehyde to cross-link proteins). This modification is designed to reduce the extract's allergenicity (IgE-binding capacity), thereby lowering the risk of systemic allergic reactions, while maintaining or enhancing its immunogenicity (T-cell reactivity). It is indicated for the treatment of house dust mite-induced allergic rhinitis and mite-allergic asthma, aiming to modify the natural course of the disease by inducing immunological tolerance.
