Depigmented polymerized olea europaea pollen extract is an allergen immunotherapy preparation manufactured from the pollen of the olive tree (*Olea europaea*). The extract undergoes a process of depigmentation (typically using mild acid under controlled conditions and dialysis) and subsequent polymerization with glutaraldehyde. This creates high molecular weight allergen polymers (allergoids) with reduced allergenicity in vivo while retaining immunogenicity needed to induce tolerance. The main mechanism is inducing immune tolerance to olive pollen allergens (notably Ole e 1), used to treat allergic rhinitis and/or asthma due to sensitization to olive pollen. This modified extract allows administration of higher doses with lower risk of systemic reactions compared to native or depigmented non-polymerized extracts, facilitating shorter up-titration protocols for subcutaneous immunotherapy[1][3].
