Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Depigoid Mite-Mix is a depigmented polymerized allergen extract developed by LETI Pharma for allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT). It is indicated for the treatment of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis and controlled asthma caused by house dust mites, specifically a mixture of *Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus* and *Dermatophagoides farinae*. The manufacturing process involves depigmentation to remove non-allergenic components and polymerization with glutaraldehyde. This modification significantly reduces the extract's IgE-binding capacity, thereby lowering the risk of systemic allergic reactions during treatment, while preserving the T-cell epitopes necessary to induce immunological tolerance. The therapy works by shifting the immune response from a Th2-mediated allergic profile toward a Th1 and regulatory T-cell (Treg) profile, leading to the production of protective IgG4 antibodies.
