Depiquick Birch

Depiquick Birch is a specific short-term allergen immunotherapy (SIT) product developed for the treatment of birch pollen-induced allergic rhinitis and rhinoconjunctivitis. The product consists of a birch pollen extract (*Betula verrucosa*) that has undergone depigmentation and polymerization with glutaraldehyde. This chemical modification reduces the extract's IgE-binding capacity (allergenicity) while preserving its ability to stimulate the immune system (immunogenicity), thereby allowing for a safer and more rapid updosing schedule, including administration during the pollen season (intraseasonal). The therapy aims to induce long-term immune tolerance by shifting the immune response from a Th2-mediated allergic profile to a Th1/Treg-mediated regulatory profile, characterized by the production of allergen-specific IgG4 antibodies.
