Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Deponit** is a transdermal patch formulation of **glyceryl trinitrate** (nitroglycerin), an organic nitrate vasodilator used for the prophylaxis of **angina pectoris**. It delivers a controlled release of the active ingredient through the skin over 24 hours, relaxing vascular smooth muscle to reduce preload and afterload, thereby decreasing myocardial oxygen demand and improving blood flow to the heart. Available in strengths such as 2.6 mg tablets or 5 mg/24 h patches (containing 18.7 mg glyceryl trinitrate), it is indicated for chronic stable angina, often alone or with other anti-anginal therapies, and is contraindicated in conditions like hypotension, glaucoma, or with PDE5 inhibitors.[1][2][3][4]
