Deproteinized calf blood extract (DCBE) is a protein-free hemodialysate derived from the blood of veal calves through ultrafiltration. It contains a complex mixture of low molecular weight components, including amino acids, small peptides, and oligosaccharides. The drug acts as a metabolic enhancer by improving the transport and utilization of oxygen and glucose, thereby stimulating intracellular ATP synthesis and aerobic glycolysis. These effects are particularly beneficial under hypoxic or nutrient-deficient conditions, promoting tissue repair, regeneration, and neuroprotection. DCBE is utilized across various therapeutic areas: in ophthalmology as eye drops for dry eye disease and corneal epithelial repair; in neurology for post-stroke cognitive impairment and diabetic peripheral polyneuropathy; and in vascular medicine for peripheral arterial occlusive disease. While widely used in Russia, China, and Eastern Europe, its regulatory status and clinical evidence base vary internationally.
