Overview

Deproteinized hemoderivative of calf blood (also known as deproteinized calf blood extract) is a biological preparation derived from the blood of healthy calves under six months of age. It is prepared through ultrafiltration and dialysis to remove proteins and high-molecular-weight antigens, resulting in a complex mixture of low-molecular-weight components (less than 5,000 Da) including amino acids, oligopeptides, nucleosides, glycolipids, and electrolytes. The drug acts as a metabolic and microcirculatory stimulator, enhancing cellular oxygen uptake, glucose transport, and ATP synthesis, particularly under hypoxic or ischemic conditions. It is widely used in Eastern Europe, Russia, and parts of Asia (such as China and South Korea) for the treatment of ischemic stroke, cognitive impairment, peripheral arterial disease, diabetic polyneuropathy, and wound healing. In ophthalmology, it is formulated as eye drops or ophthalmic gels (such as Sugaojie, developed by Shenyang Xingqi Eye Medicine) to treat corneal ulcers, corneal injuries, chemical burns, and dry eye disease.
