Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VM-1500A-LAI is a long-acting injectable nanoformulation of depulfavirine (VM1500A), a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) with broad-spectrum activity against HIV-1 variants. The formulation is designed to provide sustained therapeutic levels of the active compound over extended periods, potentially allowing for once-monthly or less frequent dosing. VM1500A has a long plasma half-life in humans (~7.5-8.9 days) and extensively partitions to blood cells, which serve as a natural slow-release depot. The nanosuspension formulation has particle sizes in the range of 380-450 nm and is designed to be readily resuspendable and easily syringeable after lyophilization.
