Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dermabond Prineo is a topical skin closure system developed by Ethicon, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson MedTech. It is a two-part system comprising a liquid 2-octyl cyanoacrylate topical skin adhesive and a self-adhering polyester mesh. The system is designed to provide wound closure for surgical incisions and simple trauma-induced lacerations by distributing tension across the wound surface, which helps maintain edge apposition. It creates a flexible, water-resistant microbial barrier that provides 99% protection in vitro for 72 hours against common surgical site infection pathogens. The system is intended for topical application in conjunction with deep dermal sutures and typically remains on the skin for 7 to 14 days before being removed or falling off naturally.
