Dermacerium

Dermacerium is a topical antimicrobial and wound-healing cream originally developed by Silvestre Labs and currently marketed by Cristália. It is a combination product containing silver sulfadiazine (1%) and cerium nitrate (available in 0.4% or 2.2% concentrations). Silver sulfadiazine provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as fungi, by disrupting bacterial cell membranes and binding to microbial DNA. Cerium nitrate is included to enhance the antiseptic effect and promote tissue regeneration, potentially by modulating the inflammatory response and protecting the dermal matrix in deep burns and chronic wounds. The product is primarily indicated for the prevention and treatment of infections in burns and difficult-to-heal wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers and pressure sores.
