Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dermacyn + levofloxacin is a combination of two agents used in wound care and infection management. Dermacyn is a brand of super-oxidized solution used as a topical wound care agent, primarily for cleaning and debriding wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers. Levofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. This combination may be investigated or used in the context of treating mild diabetic foot infections or other wounds at risk of bacterial infection[3][5]. Levofloxacin provides systemic antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria[1][6], while Dermacyn supports local wound healing through its antimicrobial properties.
