Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dermacyte Liquid (MTX-001) is a cell-free amniotic fluid (cfAF) biologic developed by Merakris Therapeutics for the treatment of chronic wounds and cutaneous ulcers. Derived from full-term human amniotic fluid, the product contains a complex mixture of regenerative proteins, cytokines, and growth factors that modulate the wound environment. It is administered via subcutaneous injection and works by inhibiting myofibroblast activation (MFA) and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), processes that are critical in both wound healing and the progression of fibrosis. Clinical studies have focused on its efficacy in treating non-healing venous stasis ulcers, while preclinical research has explored its potential in mitigating liver fibrosis by dampening hepatic stellate cell activation and preserving hepatocyte metabolic function.
