Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dermafusone is a topical combination cream developed and marketed by Laboratoires Bailleul for the treatment of inflammatory dermatoses, such as eczema or dermatitis, where bacterial infection is present or likely to occur. The formulation contains two active ingredients: fusidic acid (20 mg/g) and betamethasone valerate (1 mg/g). Fusidic acid is an antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by targeting bacterial elongation factor G (EF-G), while betamethasone valerate is a potent corticosteroid that acts as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist to reduce inflammation, redness, and itching. Dermafusone is a generic equivalent of Fucibet cream and is approved for use in adults and children over one year of age.
