Overview

Dermalix is a bioactive, three-dimensional collagen-laminin porous-structured dermal matrix designed for advanced wound healing. It is impregnated with resveratrol-loaded microparticles composed of hyaluronic acid and dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC). Developed by the Ege University School of Pharmacy, it is categorized as a Class III medical device. Dermalix promotes healing by providing a structural scaffold for tissue regeneration while simultaneously delivering resveratrol to enhance angiogenesis, neovascularization, and collagen remodeling. It has demonstrated clinical efficacy in reducing oxidative stress and pro-inflammatory markers such as TNF-alpha and caspase-3, leading to significantly faster wound closure in patients with Wagner grade 1 and 2 diabetic foot ulcers. Additionally, experimental studies have explored its potential in preventing anastomotic leakage in colon surgery by improving mechanical burst pressure and neovascularization at the surgical site.
