Overview
Dermalogen was an injectable dermal filler composed of a homologous collagen dispersion derived from acellular, aseptically processed cadaveric human tissue. Developed by Collagenesis, it was primarily indicated for facial soft-tissue augmentation, including the treatment of wrinkles and soft tissue defects. As a human-derived product, it offered an advantage over bovine collagen fillers (such as Zyplast) by eliminating the need for allergy pretesting and being suitable for patients sensitized to bovine proteins. Although it demonstrated clinical persistence and histological behavior similar to bovine collagen, it was classified as a transplantable tissue/device rather than a standard pharmaceutical drug. The product is currently discontinued and no longer available on the market.
