Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dermasectan is a topical medical device developed by Novintethical Pharma for the management of atopic dermatitis, particularly in children. It is formulated as a cream containing a combination of xyloglucan, a plant-derived polysaccharide, and pea protein. The product's mechanism of action is non-pharmacological; it forms a protective, semi-permeable film on the skin's surface that acts as a physical barrier. This film helps to restore the skin's barrier function, shielding it from environmental allergens, irritants, and pathogens while simultaneously reducing transepidermal water loss (TEWL). By maintaining skin hydration and preventing external triggers from reaching the underlying tissue, Dermasectan alleviates common eczema symptoms such as pruritus, erythema, and inflammation. It is often used as a steroid-sparing alternative or adjunct to standard topical therapies.
