Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dermasectan is a topical medical device developed by Novintethical Pharma for the management of atopic dermatitis, particularly in pediatric patients. It is formulated as a cream containing xyloglucan and pea protein, which act synergistically to form a protective, semi-permeable film on the skin surface. This "mucoprotective" barrier functions by physically preventing the penetration of allergens, irritants, and pathogens into the skin, which are common triggers for inflammatory flares in atopic dermatitis. By restoring the skin's barrier function and reducing transepidermal water loss, Dermasectan helps alleviate symptoms such as erythema, pruritus, and skin dryness. Clinical studies have evaluated its efficacy and safety as a non-pharmacological alternative or adjunct to standard-of-care topical corticosteroids like hydrocortisone.
