Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dermatix Ultra is a topical silicone gel formulation used for the management and prevention of hypertrophic scars and keloids. Developed by Menarini, the product contains a blend of cyclic and polymeric siloxanes, primarily cyclopentasiloxane (CPX), and is enriched with a vitamin C ester (ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate). Upon application, the gel dries to form a thin, transparent, and water-resistant film that hydrates the scar tissue and protects it from chemical, physical, or microbial invasion. This environment helps to normalize collagen synthesis, leading to the flattening and softening of the scar. The addition of vitamin C ester aids in reducing scar-associated hyperpigmentation. Chang Gung Memorial Hospital has specifically investigated its use as a non-inferior alternative to silicone sheets for preventing hypertrophic scarring in infants following cleft lip repair.
