Dermatophagoides farinae allergen is a standardized allergen extract derived from the American house dust mite, Dermatophagoides farinae. It is primarily used in allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT), specifically as sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) drops, for the treatment of allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis in patients sensitized to house dust mites. The drug works by inducing peripheral immune tolerance, which involves the expansion of regulatory T cells (Tregs), the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-10 (IL-10), and a shift from a Th2-mediated allergic response to a Th1-mediated response. This modulation leads to a decrease in allergen-specific IgE levels and a reduction in the activation of effector cells like mast cells and basophils. In China, this product is developed and manufactured by Zhejiang Wolwo Bio-Pharmaceutical under the brand name Chanllergen.
