Dermofucin

Dermofucin is a topical antibacterial formulation developed by Amman Pharmaceutical Industries (API) under its Apisal line. It contains fusidic acid (or its sodium salt, sodium fusidate) at a 2% concentration and is available as a cream, ointment, or gel. Dermofucin is indicated for the treatment of primary and secondary bacterial skin infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive organisms, particularly *Staphylococcus aureus* and *Streptococcus* species. Its therapeutic indications include impetigo, folliculitis, erythrasma, furuncles, carbuncles, and infected wounds or burns. Fusidic acid exerts its bacteriostatic effect by binding to bacterial elongation factor G (EF-G) on the ribosome, preventing its dissociation and thereby halting protein synthesis and bacterial replication.
