Dermol 500

Dermol 500 is an antimicrobial emollient lotion developed by Dermal Laboratories for the management of dry and pruritic skin conditions, including eczema and dermatitis. It is formulated with four active ingredients: benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine dihydrochloride, which provide broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity by disrupting bacterial cell membranes, and liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate, which act as emollients to moisturize the skin and reinforce the epidermal barrier. The product is designed to reduce skin colonization by pathogens like *Staphylococcus aureus* while preventing moisture loss. In addition to its use as a leave-on emollient, it can be used as a soap substitute. It has also been investigated in Phase 4 clinical trials for the prevention of pin site infections following circular frame orthopedic surgery.
