Developed by Mahidol University's Faculty of Medicine at Siriraj Hospital, the extract is primarily indicated for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. It exerts its therapeutic effects through anti-inflammatory activity, likely involving the inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes and other inflammatory mediators. Clinical studies, including a Phase 3 trial, have demonstrated that the extract is efficacious and safe, showing comparable results to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug naproxen in reducing pain and improving physical function in patients with primary knee osteoarthritis.
