Overview

**des-ala-ghrp-1** is a synthetic peptide that belongs to the class of growth hormone secretagogues (GHS), specifically related to growth hormone-releasing peptides (GHRPs). It is a derivative of GHRP-1, structurally similar except for the absence of the N-terminal alanine ("des-Ala" = "lacking alanine"). Like other GHRPs, it acts primarily as an agonist of the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR1a), stimulating the release of growth hormone (GH) from the pituitary gland. GHRPs, including this compound, are also known for potential cytoprotective and cardioprotective actions, and their effects extend to modulation of other hypothalamic-pituitary hormones and possible receptor interactions such as CD36, leading to prosurvival and anti-inflammatory signaling. The clinical development of des-ala-ghrp-1 appears limited to early human studies, and there is limited evidence of further clinical application or current pharmaceutical development[4][5].
