Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Desensin is a line of desensitizing oral care products developed by Dentaid specifically for the management of dentin hypersensitivity and sensitive teeth. The product range includes toothpastes and gels designed for daily topical oral application. The primary mechanism of action involves potassium nitrate, which acts by increasing extracellular potassium ion concentration around nerve endings, thereby inhibiting the transmission of external stimuli and reducing pain. Some variants, such as Desensin Repair, utilize DENTAID Nanorepair technology, which incorporates hydroxyapatite nanoparticles to physically occlude exposed dentinal tubules and repair the enamel surface. Additionally, the formulations typically include sodium fluoride for enamel remineralization and anticaries protection, along with Provitamin B5, Allantoin, and Vitamin E to support gum health and tissue regeneration.
