Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Desoximetasone is a potent synthetic topical corticosteroid (glucocorticoid) used to treat inflammatory and pruritic corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses, including plaque psoriasis and eczema. It works by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor in skin cells, leading to changes in gene expression that suppress the production of pro-inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. This results in reduced redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort associated with various skin conditions. Desoximetasone is available as a cream, ointment, gel, or spray for topical application[1][2][3][4][5][7][8].
