Desucumab is a novel bispecific monoclonal antibody designed to simultaneously target Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor Kappa-B Ligand (RANKL) and Interleukin-17A (IL-17A). Developed by researchers at Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, it is intended for the treatment of conditions where both bone resorption and inflammation play key roles, specifically ankylosing spondylitis and osteoporosis. By inhibiting RANKL, desucumab prevents osteoclast differentiation and bone loss, while its neutralization of IL-17A addresses the underlying inflammatory processes and pathological bone formation characteristic of spondyloarthropathies. This dual-action approach aims to provide superior efficacy compared to monotherapies in patients with overlapping bone and inflammatory pathologies.
