Deucravacitinib is an oral, small molecule drug used to treat adults with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis. It acts as a highly selective allosteric inhibitor of tyrosine kinase 2 (TYK2), a member of the Janus kinase family. By binding to the regulatory domain of TYK2, deucravacitinib blocks signaling pathways mediated by cytokines such as interleukin-23 (IL-23), interleukin-12 (IL-12), and type I interferons, which are implicated in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. This selectivity distinguishes it from other JAK inhibitors and contributes to its safety profile. Deucravacitinib was developed by Bristol Myers Squibb and is marketed under the brand name Sotyktu[3][5][6][8].
