Deuterated psilocybin (LNH-007) is a small molecule drug candidate being developed by Lennham Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It is a deuterated analogue of psilocybin, a naturally occurring psychedelic prodrug. The incorporation of deuterium into the molecular structure is intended to improve the drug's pharmacokinetic profile by enhancing metabolic stability and potentially reducing patient-to-patient variability in drug exposure. Like its non-deuterated counterpart, it acts as a prodrug for psilocin (or its deuterated form), which is a potent agonist at the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor. Activation of this receptor is associated with increased neuroplasticity and the facilitation of therapeutic psychological insights, which are believed to underlie its efficacy in treating chronic psychiatric conditions.
