Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DEWSOL-6 is a sterile hypertonic ophthalmic ointment containing 6% sodium chloride, marketed by Martia Laboratories. It is primarily indicated for the temporary relief of ocular edema, specifically corneal edema. The drug functions as a hyperosmotic agent; when applied topically to the eye, it increases the tonicity of the precorneal tear film. This creates an osmotic gradient that draws excess water out of the edematous corneal stroma through the semi-permeable corneal epithelium and into the tear film. By reducing corneal swelling, DEWSOL-6 helps restore corneal clarity and alleviate associated visual disturbances and discomfort.
