Overview

**DEX-PRESSIN** is an investigational decatecholaminization treatment strategy for **septic shock** that combines first-line intravenous vasopressin with a heart rate-calibrated intravenous dexmedetomidine infusion. Vasopressin is used as a non-catecholamine vasopressor through vasopressin V1a receptor agonism, while dexmedetomidine is a central alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that provides sympatholysis and can reduce endogenous and exogenous catecholamine exposure. Mansoura University is evaluating this co-administration regimen in the Phase 2 DecatSepsis-2 randomized trial for its potential to reduce in-hospital mortality in adults with septic shock.
