DHAP is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of dexamethasone, cytarabine, and cisplatin. Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid that helps reduce inflammation and can enhance the effectiveness of chemotherapy. Cytarabine is an antimetabolite chemotherapeutic agent that interferes with DNA synthesis by incorporating into DNA during the S phase of the cell cycle, leading to cell death in rapidly dividing cells. Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that causes cross-linking of DNA strands, inhibiting DNA replication and transcription, ultimately resulting in apoptosis. This combination is primarily used for treating high-grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma and relapsed or refractory Hodgkin lymphoma[1][3][5]. The drugs are typically administered intravenously (cytarabine and cisplatin), while dexamethasone may be given orally or intravenously[1][3].
