Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination drug consisting of dexamethasone, a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant properties, and diammonium glycyrrhizinate, an ammonium salt of glycyrrhizic acid derived from licorice root that exhibits hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory effects. Dexamethasone acts primarily by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor to modulate gene expression and suppress pro-inflammatory cytokines. Diammonium glycyrrhizinate inhibits 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2 (11β-HSD2), increasing local cortisol concentrations and enhancing anti-inflammatory activity. The combination has been studied for synergistic effects in reducing inflammation and immune-mediated damage in conditions such as primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and liver diseases[3][9]. Clinical trials have evaluated this combination for improved efficacy over monotherapy in ITP[1][3].
