dexamethasone + granisetron

Dexamethasone + granisetron is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used primarily for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery. Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant properties. Granisetron is a selective serotonin (5-HT3) receptor antagonist that blocks serotonin-mediated signaling in both the central nervous system (chemoreceptor trigger zone) and peripheral nervous system (gastrointestinal tract), thereby inhibiting the emetic reflex. The combination has been shown to be more effective than either agent alone in preventing both acute and delayed emesis induced by highly or moderately emetogenic chemotherapy regimens, as well as postoperative nausea and vomiting[1][2][3][5][6].
