Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dexamethasone + oseltamivir is a combination therapy consisting of dexamethasone, a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties, and oseltamivir, an oral neuraminidase inhibitor antiviral agent. This combination has been investigated for its potential synergistic effects in the management of newly diagnosed primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), where dexamethasone suppresses immune-mediated platelet destruction and oseltamivir may enhance platelet response by inhibiting sialidase activity. The regimen has also been studied in severe influenza to assess whether adding dexamethasone to standard antiviral treatment improves clinical outcomes[1][2][4][5].
