Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Delta-Tylo-Wayzon Pharma is a veterinary combination product developed by Wayzon Pharma. It contains tylosin, a macrolide antibiotic, and dexamethasone, a potent synthetic glucocorticoid. Tylosin exerts its antibacterial effect by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis. It is particularly effective against Gram-positive bacteria and Mycoplasma species. Dexamethasone provides anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects by activating glucocorticoid receptors, which modulates gene expression to reduce the production of inflammatory mediators. This combination is typically used to treat respiratory and systemic infections in livestock where both antibacterial action and the reduction of associated inflammation are required.
