Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dexamethasone isonicotinate is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties. It can be administered orally, by inhalation, topically, or parenterally. The drug acts primarily by binding to the cytoplasmic glucocorticoid receptor, leading to suppression of immune responses and reduction of inflammation through changes in gene expression. Dexamethasone isonicotinate may also exhibit unintended mineralocorticoid activity, potentially causing salt and water retention. It has veterinary uses for controlling central nervous system inflammation in animals such as dogs and cats, as well as for treating primary bovine ketosis in cattle[1][2][7][8].
