dexamethasone isonicotinate + oxytetracycline hydrochloride

Corti Biciron N is a fixed-dose combination ophthalmic ointment containing the corticosteroid dexamethasone-21-isonicotinate and the broad-spectrum antibiotic oxytetracycline hydrochloride. Developed by S & K Pharma Schumann und Kohl, it was indicated for the treatment of external ocular inflammations, such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, and blepharitis, particularly when caused by oxytetracycline-sensitive pathogens and requiring anti-inflammatory intervention. Dexamethasone isonicotinate acts as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist to suppress ocular inflammation, while oxytetracycline inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. The product was evaluated in a Phase III trial against Dexa-Gentamicin but has since been withdrawn from the market.
