This drug is a triple therapy regimen specifically evaluated by National Taiwan University Hospital for the first-line eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection. It consists of dexlansoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme; amoxicillin, a beta-lactam antibiotic that interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis; and clarithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. In a Phase 4 multicenter randomized trial (NCT02249546), this regimen was administered for 14 days (dexlansoprazole 60 mg once daily, amoxicillin 1 g twice daily, and clarithromycin 500 mg twice daily) to compare its efficacy against the same regimen supplemented with N-acetylcysteine. The study found that the addition of N-acetylcysteine did not significantly improve eradication rates compared to this standard triple therapy alone.
