Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination of three drugs—dexmedetomidine, lidocaine, and magnesium sulfate—used primarily as an admixture in opioid-free anesthesia and perioperative pain management. Dexmedetomidine is a selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that provides sedation, anxiolysis, and analgesia without significant respiratory depression. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that blocks voltage-gated sodium channels on neuronal membranes, inhibiting nerve impulse conduction to provide analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. Magnesium sulfate acts as an N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist and calcium channel blocker; it has analgesic properties by modulating synaptic transmission and reducing central sensitization to pain. This triple combination is used in various clinical settings for multimodal anesthesia or as adjuvants to reduce perioperative opioid requirements, attenuate hemodynamic responses during surgery, decrease postoperative pain scores, suppress cough during emergence from anesthesia, and improve patient comfort[1][5][6][8]. The admixture has demonstrated chemical stability when prepared in advance for hospital use[1].
