Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dexmedetomidine + nefopam is a combination of two centrally acting, non-opioid analgesic agents used primarily for perioperative and postoperative pain management. Dexmedetomidine is a highly selective α2-adrenergic receptor agonist that provides sedation, anxiolysis, and analgesia without significant respiratory depression. Nefopam is a non-opioid, non-steroidal analgesic that inhibits the reuptake of serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine in the central nervous system and also has NMDA receptor antagonist activity. The combination aims to provide enhanced multimodal analgesia with opioid-sparing effects and improved pain control after surgery[1][2][5]. Both drugs are used as part of multimodal regimens to reduce opioid consumption and their associated side effects.
