Overview
Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride + serdexmethylphenidate is an oral fixed-dose **small molecule** central nervous system stimulant combination marketed as **Azstarys** for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in patients 6 years of age and older. The product combines immediate-release dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride with serdexmethylphenidate, a prodrug that is converted to dexmethylphenidate after gastrointestinal absorption, providing both rapid onset and extended symptom control across the day. Its therapeutic activity is mediated by inhibition of dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake consistent with the methylphenidate class. The drug was developed by Corium and is FDA-approved in the United States for ADHD.
