Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dextiva CPM is an oral syrup combination product marketed by Wonne International, containing the antitussive dextromethorphan hydrobromide and the first-generation antihistamine chlorpheniramine maleate. Dextromethorphan suppresses the cough reflex by acting as an agonist at sigma-1 receptors in the medullary cough center of the central nervous system. Chlorpheniramine maleate acts as a competitive antagonist at H1 histamine receptors, thereby reducing allergic symptoms such as sneezing, rhinorrhea, and itchy/watery eyes. This combination is indicated for the symptomatic relief of cough and upper respiratory symptoms associated with the common cold, hay fever, or other respiratory allergies.
