Overview

Dextran-DHA-CTX is a polymer-drug conjugate consisting of the taxane cabazitaxel (CTX) and the omega-3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) covalently attached to a bifunctionalized dextran backbone. Developed to address the poor water solubility and lack of tumor targeting of conventional cabazitaxel, the conjugate aims to improve therapeutic outcomes in metastatic prostate cancer. In preclinical evaluations using PC-3 and DU145 prostate cancer xenograft models, dextran-DHA-CTX demonstrated enhanced solubility and improved antitumor effects compared to standard cabazitaxel, although it was found to be less efficacious than its gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) conjugated counterpart.
